…pothole repair! Note safety branches to alert road users, below.

You can just see in the top photo the road construction: just a couple of cm of tar chip seal on top of compacted earth – no hardcore or basecourse.

In the dry, the dust from these potholes gets everywhere on your gear and bike. In the wet, grit and mud play havoc with the transmission. My rear derailleur took a bit of maintenance (below).
