Biking Bangkok
2018, October 16 – 03:34
I’ve been biking round Bangkok now, including the day-and-a-half spent coming in from the countryside, for six days, covering maybe 100km including trips to the camping shop, bike tour hq, embassy and round hotels. The short version: it’s terrible!
Facades in Bangkok
2018, October 16 – 03:03
I love these mid-20th-century buildings with a few decades’ wear showing. They generally have a good, livable scale that breaks down nicely from city- to home-size.
Biking in Thailand
2018, October 10 – 23:22
A few initial impressions after just crossing the border from Cambodia (and why hadn’t I found out that Thailand traffic keeps left!?)
Firstly the shock of the smooth: Beautiful surfaces compared to poor Cambodia:
Wobbling through Southern Thailand
2018, October 10 – 22:52
Wobbling along the Gulf Coast of Thailand you see some beautiful jungle growing right up to the road, and gorgeous beaches. Buddhist monasteries and temples and shrines are everywhere.

Thai shrine bling
2018, October 8 – 00:12
I find the Buddhist shrines here in Thailand incredibly intriguing- wish I knew more about what the meanings are. They’re ridiculously pretty in any case.
Biking in the rainy season in Asia
2018, October 6 – 02:11
Well I’ve done 11 days on the bike now since Ho Chi Minh City. I think my legs are starting to build some stamina and my system’s getting a bit used to biking in a different climate.
Biking Cambodia
2018, October 6 – 01:40
A quick ride through the south coast of Cambodia leaves me slightly in awe of this country and its history.
It’s great for my supermarket-oriented eyes to see fresh veg, fish and fruit that you’ve just spotted growing in the countryside -or being caught at sea- displayed for sale. Pic below is market in Koh Kong.
Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa
2018, September 25 – 00:34
Will’s first proper day on the road in Asia! Sad to leave Saigon but pretty exciting to gradually leave the city behind and, just for a moment, hear only the noise of the bike’s tyres rolling through Vietnam after the city mayhem.
